Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program - Visarete

IMMIGRATION

The Atlantic Immigration Pilot was introduced in 2017, aiming to bring more than 7000 families to the Atlantic region of Canada. It allows local employers and communities to fill their requirements by hiring foreign workers. It is a fast-track immigration program that assists foreign nationals to immigrate and settle in Canada’s four Atlantic provinces — Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Prince Edward Island.

How it works

The AIPP is an employer-driven program that helps employers to hire foreign workers, that is why applicants must have a job offer from a designated employer and an individualized settlement plan for themselves and their families. Employers do not need to go through the LMIA process; however, they need to apply to four provinces or the provinces in which they have a need for foreign workers. There is a list of designated employers for four provinces in Atlantics.

Employers that need to fill a job vacancy quickly will have access to a temporary work permit so that the candidate and his or her family can come to Canada as soon as possible. In order to obtain this work permit, candidates will need:

  • a valid job offer;
  • a letter from the province; and
  • a commitment to apply for permanent residence within 90 days of the temporary work permit application.
