The Alberta PNP or Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP), formerly the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP), is an economic immigration program that nominates immigrants for permanent residence in Alberta. Through this program, prospective immigrants with the right combination of skills and work experience as required by the labor market in the province receive an invitation. After invitation, if an immigrant receives a nomination from AAIP and the application is submitted via AAIP Express Entry Stream, an additional benefit of 600 points in the CRS Score will be awarded, which helps in moving to Canada as a permanent resident.

Minimum Requirements for Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP):

To be considered for the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP), you must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Active Express Entry Profile: You must have an active Express Entry profile in the federal Express Entry pool
  • Eligibility for Federal Immigration Programs: You should meet the criteria of at least one of the federal immigration programs managed by Express Entry, including:
    • Canadian Experience Class
    • Federal Skilled Worker Program
    • Federal Skilled Trade Program
  • Occupations in Demand: Your primary occupation in your federal Express Entry profile should be one of the following:
  • An occupation in demand in Alberta
  • Part of a specific Express Entry stream pathway
  • An occupation connected to a provincial economic, sector, or occupational priority.
  • Intent to Live and Work in Alberta: You must have the intention and ability to live and work permanently in Alberta and express your interest in immigrating permanently to Alberta.
  • Minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) Score: You need to have a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of at least 300 in your Express Entry profile.
  • Occupation Eligibility: Your primary occupation should not be on the Alberta Opportunity Stream Ineligible Occupations list.
  • Reasonable AAIP Application Volume: The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) should consider the volume of applications or nominations for your primary occupation in the current calendar year as reasonable to meet provincial economic immigration priorities.
  • Not a Refugee Claimant or Under Federal Appeal/Removal Process: You should neither be a refugee claimant nor subject to a federal appeal or removal process. The AAIP cannot intervene in the federal refugee claim, appeal, or removal process.
  • No Active Nomination under Any AAIP Stream: You should not have an active nomination under any AAIP stream. An active nomination is one that has not expired or is eligible for extension, or a nomination that was used to apply for permanent residence but where a decision has not yet been made on the permanent residence application.
  • Not Identified as Ineligible Due to Misrepresentation: You must not be currently identified as ineligible to re-apply to the AAIP due to
